William Cayen Skilled Trades Scholarship

The William Cayen Skilled Trades Scholarship helps graduating high school seniors and current skilled trades students offset the cost of training for high-demand technical and industrial careers. Eligible programs include fields such as electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, welding, HVAC, automotive technology, construction, machining, robotics, and other approved skilled trades.

Eligibility

  • Be a graduating high school senior pursuing an eligible skilled trades certificate or a student currently enrolled in an eligible skilled trades program.
  • High school applicants must reside within the MSGCU field of membership and attend a high school or technical campus in a community MSGCU serves.
  • The skilled trades school must be located in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, or Wayne County.
  • Current students must attend an accredited not-for-profit public school or private vocational skilled trades school in one of the eligible counties.
  • Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-members may apply but must become MSGCU members if selected.
  • MSGCU member accounts must be in good standing.
  • Have not previously received an MSGCU scholarship.
  • Employees and officials of MSGCU, their immediate families, and persons living in their households are not eligible.

Requirements

  • Complete the MSGCU scholarship application.
  • Answer three required short-response questions.
  • High school seniors must submit a high school transcript.
  • High school seniors must provide proof of acceptance into an eligible skilled trades program.
  • Current skilled trades students must submit a skilled trades school transcript.
  • Maintain at least a 2.5 overall GPA.
