White Earth Scholarship Program

The White Earth Scholarship Program provides incentive-based financial assistance to enrolled members of the White Earth Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe pursuing accredited undergraduate, graduate, technical, and professional postsecondary education in Minnesota or out of state.

Eligibility

  • Be an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe.
  • Be accepted to an accredited higher education university or technical college.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Complete the FAFSA regardless of income.
  • Apply for the Minnesota Indian Scholarship when applicable.
  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Not be in prior student loan default.
  • Apply approximately 8-12 weeks before classes begin.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 term GPA after receiving an award.

Requirements

  • Submit the White Earth Scholarship application with original signatures.
  • Submit the Certificate of Agreement.
  • Submit an Education or Program Plan.
  • Submit high school diploma, high school transcript, or GED documentation.
  • Submit previous academic transcripts when applicable.
  • Submit course registration for the upcoming term.
  • Complete the FAFSA.
  • Complete the Minnesota Indian Scholarship application when applicable.
  • Out-of-state students must submit an Out-of-State Needs Analysis completed by the financial aid office.
  • Graduate students must submit an acceptance letter and narrative describing how the degree will enhance themselves and Native American communities.

How to Apply

  3. 3Complete the White Earth Scholarship application and Certificate of Agreement.
  4. 4Prepare the required Education Plan.
  5. 5Gather transcripts, diploma or GED documentation, and upcoming course registration.
  6. 6Graduate students should prepare the required degree-impact narrative and acceptance letter.
  7. 7Out-of-state students must coordinate the needs-analysis budget with the institution's financial aid office.
  8. 8Print and sign the application with original signatures.
  9. 9Mail the complete application to White Earth Student Financial Services.
  10. 10Reapply every academic year and submit grades and upcoming registration before subsequent awards are released.
