Vocational Nurse Scholarship Program

Eligibility

• Be enrolled in or accepted to an eligible California vocational nursing education program.
• Be preparing to become a licensed vocational nurse.
• Be eligible to work in the United States during the required service period.
• Agree to provide direct patient care at a qualifying facility in California after completing the nursing program.
• Meet all additional eligibility requirements published in the applicable HCAI grant guide.
• Not have another service obligation that overlaps with the HCAI scholarship service commitment.

Requirements

• Complete the HCAI Funding eApp scholarship application.
• Provide proof of enrollment or acceptance in an eligible vocational nursing program.
• Submit an official cost-of-attendance document from the educational institution.
• Provide all additional forms and documentation required by HCAI.
• Sign a grant agreement that includes the required California service obligation if selected.

How to Apply

1. 1Review the current Vocational Nurse Scholarship Program page and grant guide when it becomes available.
2. 2Confirm that the vocational nursing program and intended California service location meet HCAI eligibility rules.
3. 3Create or update a profile in the HCAI Funding eApp portal.
4. 4Complete the online application and upload every required document.
5. 5Submit the complete application by October 2, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
6. 6If selected, review and sign the HCAI grant agreement by the stated deadline.
