Village Bank Community Leadership Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a graduating high school student from Newton, Wayland, or Waltham, Massachusetts.
• The student or an immediate family member must have been a customer of The Village Bank since at least January 1 of the previous year.
• Fulfill high school graduation requirements by June of the current scholarship year.
• Plan to pursue studies at an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrate active involvement in community or charitable causes in a leadership capacity.
• Be willing to have the recipient's name, photograph, and town or city included in promotional announcements by The Village Bank.

Requirements

• Complete The Village Bank scholarship application.
• Submit the required scholarship essay.
• Have a guidance officer or college counselor submit the applicant's school records.
• Submit a letter of recommendation from someone who is not a relative.
• Ensure that the entire application package is complete by the scholarship deadline.
• If selected, successfully complete the first semester associated with each annual scholarship installment.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm that you live in Newton, Wayland, or Waltham and meet the Village Bank customer requirement.
2. 2Watch for the annual scholarship application window to open around mid-February.
3. 3Complete The Village Bank scholarship application and required essay.
4. 4Ask your guidance officer or college counselor to submit your school records.
5. 5Arrange for a recommendation letter from someone who is not a relative.
6. 6Make sure the complete application package is received by the April 2 deadline unless The Village Bank announces an extension.
7. 7If selected, complete the required college semester before each applicable scholarship installment is released.
