2+2 Transfer Scholarship

The 2+2 Transfer Scholarship helps eligible students transfer from a Maryland community college to a four-year Maryland institution and complete a bachelor's degree. The scholarship provides higher awards to students entering certain high-demand fields while also supporting qualifying transfer students pursuing other majors.

Eligibility

  • Be a Maryland resident.
  • Attend a Maryland community college and complete an associate degree within the applicable program timeframe.
  • Transfer to an eligible Maryland public or private nonprofit four-year institution.
  • Enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student at the four-year institution.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale while attending the Maryland community college.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • File the FAFSA for the applicable academic year.
  • Submit the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application through the MHEC One-App in MDCAPS by the published deadline.
  • Submit all required documentation by the applicable documentation deadline.

Requirements

  • Complete the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application through the MHEC One-App.
  • Submit the FAFSA for the applicable academic year.
  • Provide a Maryland community college transcript showing the required cumulative GPA.
  • Provide a final community college transcript showing completion of the associate degree when required.
  • Provide any additional eligibility documentation requested by MHEC.
  • Renewal recipients must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at their four-year institution.
  • Renewal recipients must continue full-time enrollment at an eligible Maryland four-year institution.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the FAFSA for the applicable academic year.
  2. 2Log in to MDCAPS and complete the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application through the MHEC One-App.
  3. 3Submit the required Maryland community college transcript and other requested documentation.
  4. 4Monitor MDCAPS for application updates and additional documentation requests.
  5. 5Submit proof of associate degree completion through a final community college transcript when required.
  6. 6Transfer to and enroll full-time at an eligible Maryland four-year institution.
