Teacher Recruitment Loan Program

The Teacher Recruitment Loan Program provides forgivable student loans to Kentucky residents pursuing initial teacher certification. Recipients may qualify for loan forgiveness by teaching in a Kentucky public school for one year for each semester the loan is received.

Eligibility

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be a Kentucky resident.
  • Be enrolled in an approved teacher education program at a participating Kentucky institution.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Meet satisfactory academic progress requirements.

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Complete the required Kentucky teaching service or repay the loan plus interest.
