T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Minnesota Apprenticeship Program

Eligibility

• Work in a licensed or certified child care program or school-based prekindergarten program.
• Work 30-40 hours per week directly with children ages birth through five.
• Have no college degree or fewer than 20 college credits.
• Have worked in the early childhood field for fewer than five years.
• Be interested in learning from a peer mentor through meetings and observations.
• Be willing to commit to remaining with the current employer for at least three years.

Requirements

• Submit the T.E.A.C.H. Apprenticeship interest form.
• Work with a T.E.A.C.H. Apprenticeship Coordinator to determine program fit and next steps.
• Participate in required college coursework.
• Complete structured on-the-job training.
• Participate in individualized peer mentoring.
• Complete the applicable T.E.A.C.H. scholarship and apprenticeship agreements.
• Maintain qualifying employment throughout the apprenticeship.

How to Apply

1. 1Review the T.E.A.C.H. Apprenticeship eligibility requirements.
2. 2Discuss participation with the current early childhood employer.
3. 3Submit the T.E.A.C.H. Apprenticeship interest form.
4. 4Speak with an Apprenticeship Coordinator about employer, apprentice, and mentor responsibilities.
5. 5Complete the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship and participation requirements.
6. 6Enroll in the applicable college coursework or credential pathway.
7. 7Complete on-the-job training while working in the early childhood program.
8. 8Meet regularly with the assigned peer mentor.
9. 9Complete approximately two years of apprenticeship requirements.
10. 10Earn the applicable industry-recognized credential or degree and Minnesota Department of Labor certification.
