Eligibility

  • Be a student in grades 7–12.
  • Be at least 13 years old when entering.
  • Reside in the United States, a U.S. territory or military base, or Canada.
  • Submit original work that meets the requirements of the selected art or writing category.
  • Meet the deadline and guidelines established for the applicant's region.

Requirements

  • Create an account through the official Awards portal.
  • Select the category that best represents the submitted work.
  • Upload original artwork or writing in the required format.
  • Pay the applicable entry fee or request a fee waiver.
  • Obtain parent or guardian approval when required.

  2. 2Use the regional locator to identify the correct affiliate and deadline.
  3. 3Review the requirements for the chosen art or writing category.
  4. 4Upload the original work and complete all entry information.
  5. 5Pay the entry fee or select the fee-waiver option.
  6. 6Submit the entry before the applicable regional deadline.
  7. 7Regional Gold Key recipients advance to national judging.
