Rosewood Family Scholarship

The Rosewood Family Scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible direct descendants of Rosewood families affected by the historical incidents of January 1923. Up to 50 eligible students may receive funding to attend a Florida public university, Florida College System institution, or public postsecondary technical center.

Eligibility
- Be a direct descendant of a Rosewood family affected by the historical incidents of January 1923.
- Provide acceptable genealogical documentation linking the applicant to an eligible Rosewood family member.
- Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application by the published deadline.
- Complete the FAFSA in time for it to be processed error-free by the required deadline.
- Not owe repayment or be in default under a state or federal grant, loan, or scholarship program unless satisfactory repayment arrangements have been made.
- Not have previously earned a baccalaureate degree.
- Enroll full time in an eligible Florida public postsecondary institution.
- Pursue an undergraduate degree, certificate, or diploma.
Requirements
- Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application.
- Complete the FAFSA.
- Provide documentation establishing direct Rosewood ancestry.
- Submit a birth certificate, photo identification, and Social Security card.
- Enroll full time at an eligible Florida public college, university, or technical center.
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative institutional GPA for renewal.
- Earn at least 12 credit hours per funded term, or the equivalent.
How to Apply
- 1Create or access a student account through the Florida Office of Student Financial Assistance.
- 2Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application by the published deadline.
- 3Complete the FAFSA early enough to be processed error-free by the required date.
- 4Gather documents connecting the applicant to an eligible Rosewood family member.
- 5Upload ancestry and identity documentation through the Florida Department of Education document-upload system or submit it by mail.
- 6Monitor the online student account for eligibility and award updates.
- 7Work with the eligible institution’s financial-aid office to receive funding.
