Regents and Presidential Scholars Program

Eligibility

• Be a Hawaiʻi resident.
• Attend or plan to attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, or University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu.
• Regents Scholarship applicants must be incoming first-year, degree-seeking students.
• Regents applicants generally need at least a 3.8 GPA for UH Mānoa consideration.
• Regents applicants to UH Hilo or UH West Oʻahu generally need a GPA between 3.5 and 3.7, with preference given to applicants with stronger academic records.
• Presidential Scholarship applicants must be rising college juniors.
• Presidential applicants must have at least a 3.7 cumulative GPA across all college-level coursework.
• Presidential applicants must demonstrate sustained academic progress and exceptional academic achievement or creative accomplishment.
• Meet all campus-specific admissions, scholarship, and enrollment requirements.

Requirements

• Apply for admission to the participating University of Hawaiʻi campus.
• Complete the Regents or Presidential Scholarship application.
• Submit the required activities and achievements information.
• Submit the required essay or short-answer response describing community impact.
• Provide an updated academic transcript when requested.
• UH Mānoa applicants must also apply to and participate in the Honors Program.
• Complete an Honors Program interview when required by UH Mānoa.

How to Apply

1. 1Determine whether you qualify for the Regents first-year track or Presidential rising-junior track.
2. 2Apply for admission to UH Mānoa, UH Hilo, or UH West Oʻahu by the applicable priority deadline.
3. 3Complete the campus scholarship application.
4. 4Submit the required activities list, academic information, and community-impact essay.
5. 5Complete any separate Honors Program application or interview required by UH Mānoa.
6. 6Monitor your campus admissions and scholarship portals for decisions and additional requests.
