The REETAIN Bonus rewards experienced Minnesota early childhood educators who demonstrate continued commitment to the child care workforce and professional development. Competitive annual awards range from $500 to $3,000 and may be used for either personal or professional expenses.

Eligibility

  • Be licensed to provide child care in Minnesota or work for a licensed Minnesota child care program for at least one year before the applicable application period begins.
  • Work directly with children at least 30 hours per week or 1,560 hours per year.
  • Commit to continuing eligible Minnesota early childhood employment for one year after receiving the bonus.
  • Center-based educators must earn $28 per hour or less.
  • Not be a current T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship recipient.
  • Maintain a current Develop Individual Membership.
  • Have eligible employment verified on the Develop DCYF Licensing Learning Record.
  • Have a Career Lattice Step of at least 5.

Requirements

  • Complete the appropriate annual REETAIN Bonus application.
  • Submit a current Develop DCYF Licensing Learning Record.
  • Submit proof of income or applicable family child care licensing documentation.
  • Submit a completed W-9.
  • Sign the REETAIN participation agreement if selected.
  • Complete required employment verification after receiving the award.

How to Apply

  4. 4Gather the required income or licensing documentation.

  6. 6Create or access a Child Care Aware Grants and Scholarships Application Portal account.
  7. 7Apply during the application period matching the applicant's child care setting.
  8. 8Submit only one complete application because submitted applications cannot be edited or replaced.
  9. 9If selected, sign the participation agreement and remain in qualifying early childhood employment for one year.
