REACH Georgia Scholarship Program

REACH Georgia is a needs-based mentoring and scholarship program that selects academically promising students in middle school. Scholars receive mentoring, academic coaching, college planning support, and up to $10,000 toward attendance at an eligible Georgia college after successfully completing the program.

Eligibility

  • Be a rising eighth-grade student attending an eligible Georgia school in a participating REACH school system.
  • Be nominated to apply by the participating school system.
  • Demonstrate financial need under the applicable income-eligibility guidelines.
  • Meet United States citizenship or eligible noncitizen requirements.
  • Have at least a 2.5 GPA in core academic courses.
  • Demonstrate good attendance, behavior, and academic potential.
  • Have a crime-free and drug-free record.
  • Have the support of a parent, legal guardian, or another caring adult.

Requirements

  • Complete the REACH Georgia student application after receiving a nomination.
  • Provide documentation demonstrating financial need.
  • Submit grade, attendance, behavior, citizenship, and residency information.
  • Submit one academic recommendation and one community recommendation.
  • Participate in an interview with the local student selection committee.
  • Sign and fulfill the REACH Scholar participation agreement if selected.

How to Apply

  1. 1Ask your school counselor or participating school system whether it offers REACH Georgia.
  2. 2Confirm that you are eligible for nomination during seventh or eighth grade.
  3. 3Complete the student application if nominated.
  4. 4Ask one academic reference and one community reference to complete the required forms.
  5. 5Submit all financial-need and eligibility documentation by the local deadline.
  6. 6Participate in the local selection interview.
  7. 7If selected, complete the mentoring, coaching, academic, attendance, and program-participation requirements through high school.
