Eligibility

  • Be an AIA member or AIA Associate member.
  • Be 40 years of age or younger on January 1, 2027.
  • Meet one of the Minnesota education or professional-practice connections specified by the Minnesota Architectural Foundation for the competition.
  • Be available to participate in the required juried design competition.
  • Use the award to advance architectural education through qualifying domestic or international travel-study.

Requirements

  • Complete the Ralph Rapson Traveling Study Award application.
  • Verify AIA or Associate AIA membership.
  • Document the required Minnesota architectural education or professional connection.
  • Participate in the two-week architectural design competition.
  • Develop and submit the required competition design solution.
  • Participate in finalist presentations if selected.
  • Develop an architectural travel-study plan if awarded.
