Eligibility

  • Be a Mississippi resident.
  • Be a graduate of a Mississippi-accredited or approved pre-licensure nursing program.
  • Have an application for licensure by examination on file with the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  • Have paid the applicable licensure fees through Gateway so the Board can verify the official transcript.
  • Be a first-time test-taker for the specific NCLEX examination requested, either LPN or RN.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or equivalent academic standing in nursing school.

Requirements

  • Complete the Nursing Success NCLEX Scholarship Program application.
  • Provide one letter of recommendation from a nursing school dean, faculty member, or clinical supervisor.
  • Have an application for licensure by examination on file with the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  • Complete required Gateway fee payment so official transcript information can be verified.
  • Submit a complete application; incomplete applications are disqualified.

How to Apply

  1. 1Confirm that you are a Mississippi resident and first-time NCLEX test-taker.
  2. 2Confirm graduation from a Mississippi-accredited or approved pre-licensure nursing program.
  3. 3File your application for licensure by examination with the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  4. 4Complete the required Gateway payment process for official transcript verification.
  5. 5Complete the online NSSP application when the FY2027 application opens.
  6. 6Upload the required recommendation letter.
  7. 7Submit the complete application for review by the ONWard committee.
  8. 8If selected, receive an official award letter and prepaid NCLEX exam voucher code.
  9. 9Schedule and take the applicable NCLEX examination within 90 days of receiving the voucher.
