Eligibility

  • Be currently in foster care, a ward of the state, eligible for an independent-living program, or have aged out of foster care.
  • Be under age 26 when submitting the application.
  • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be a high school graduate or have earned an equivalent credential.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Be accepted into an accredited, Pell-eligible vocational, trade, technical, or other eligible postsecondary program.
  • Provide acceptable documentation of current or former foster-care status.

Requirements

  • Complete the main nsoro Educational Foundation scholarship application.
  • Submit three letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, mentors, or community leaders.
  • Submit an official high school or postsecondary transcript.
  • Provide court documentation or an official letter verifying foster-care status.
  • Provide information about the selected vocational, trade, or technical program.
  • Submit enrollment and educational-expense information when requested.
