North Dakota Career Builders Loan Repayment

Eligibility

  • Complete a program of study and have qualifying federal or private alternative student-loan principal. The program may have been completed inside or outside ND.
  • Be newly hired in an occupation on the current loan-repayment High-Need and Emerging Occupations List; newly hired means within 24 months before NDUS receives the application.
  • Live and work in ND in the qualifying occupation, with employer verification.
  • Have matching donor/qualifying public funds received by NDUS before payment. Home-equity, credit-card and consolidated debt no longer classified as student loans are ineligible.

Requirements

  • Apply with your employer and provide required documentation upon application and before each payment.
  • Confirm eligible principal, occupation, hire date, residency/employment and donor match.
  • Maintain eligibility for payments over three years; the $17,000 maximum is program lifetime eligibility, not a separate maximum on top of a prior Career Builders scholarship.

How to Apply

  2. 2Select Career Builders Loan Repayment through the ND SAMS portal linked by NDUS.
  3. 3Submit employer and loan documentation; NDUS contacts employer/donor for supporting records and funds.
  4. 4Provide updated verification before each payment and confirm the actual eligible annual amount with NDUS.
