Eligibility

  • Primary residence in Buncombe County; graduating senior at a Buncombe public/private high school or homeschool, NCSSM or UNCSA.
  • Show superior academic potential, leadership, community involvement and a positive outlook.
  • Top-5% class standing, 4.0+ weighted GPA and high SAT OR ACT scores describe typical recipients; these are guidance, not published mandatory cutoffs.
  • This is a merit program; the sponsor's 2026 counselor instructions say financial need is not considered.

Requirements

  • Online application, personal statement, academic and activity records, SAT OR ACT scores and two recommendation letters.
  • Confirm current school review and finalist interview instructions with your counselor.
