SLPL – Speech-Language Pathologist Forgivable Loan

Eligibility

• Be a legal resident of Mississippi for at least one year prior to application.
• Be fully admitted as a regular student in a first master's degree program in Speech-Language Pathology, Communicative Disorders, or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
• Attend an approved Mississippi graduate program.
• Enroll either full-time or part-time according to the attending institution's enrollment standards.
• Have and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Agree to work as a licensed speech-language pathologist in a Mississippi public or charter school or district for one year for each year of funding received.

Requirements

• Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP.
• Submit an official graduate program acceptance letter showing full or regular admission.
• Provide two forms of Mississippi residency documentation when required.
• Submit all required supporting documents by the published deadline.
• Sign a Master Contract and Note if selected for funding.
• Sign a Private Loan Self-Certification Form for each year funding is received.
• Complete the required Mississippi service obligation after graduation and licensure.

How to Apply

1. 1Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP beginning October 1.
2. 2Submit an official acceptance letter from the approved graduate program.
3. 3Submit required Mississippi residency documentation.
4. 4Ensure all supporting documents are received by June 30.
5. 5Wait for award consideration based on complete-application status, renewal priority, and available funding.
6. 6If selected, sign the required Master Contract and Note.
7. 7Complete the annual Private Loan Self-Certification Form.
8. 8After completing the program and obtaining the required license, work as a speech-language pathologist in a Mississippi public or charter school or district for one year for each year of funding received.
