Eligibility

  • Be a legal resident of Mississippi for at least one year prior to application.
  • Be younger than age 25 by October 1 of the applicable aid year, subject to the program's military-service age extension.
  • Have been in legal custody of the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services at any time since age 13, have lived in a Mississippi-qualified residential living facility at any time since age 13, or have been adopted from the legal custody of Mississippi CPS or a qualified residential living facility at any time since age 13.
  • Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP for the appropriate academic year.
  • Complete the FAFSA.
  • Enroll at least part-time with a minimum of 6 credit hours at an approved Mississippi postsecondary institution.
  • Enroll in an undergraduate program leading to a certificate or degree.
  • Apply through Mississippi CPS for an Educational and Training Voucher if eligible.

Requirements

  • Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP.
  • Complete the FAFSA for the applicable academic year.
  • Provide documentation necessary to verify foster care, residential facility, or adoption eligibility when requested.
  • Apply for an Educational and Training Voucher through Mississippi CPS if eligible.
  • Maintain required enrollment and satisfactory academic progress for renewal.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the FAFSA for the academic year in which aid is requested.
  2. 2Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP while the application is open.
  3. 3Apply through Mississippi CPS for an Educational and Training Voucher if eligible.
  4. 4Submit any requested eligibility or residency documentation.
