MESG – Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant

Eligibility

• Be a legal resident of Mississippi for at least one year prior to high school or homeschool completion.
• Earn a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Score at least 29 on the National ACT or 1350 on the SAT, or be named a National Merit Finalist or Semifinalist.
• Enroll full-time at an approved Mississippi postsecondary institution.
• Enroll in a program leading to a first certificate, first associate degree, or first bachelor's degree.
• Students already enrolled in college must meet entering-freshman eligibility requirements and apply within three years of high school graduation.
• Currently enrolled college applicants must have at least a 3.5 cumulative college GPA after completing at least 12 but no more than 18 college credit hours.

Requirements

• Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP.
• Submit any required residency documentation.
• Provide qualifying GPA and standardized test score documentation.
• Homeschool applicants must submit a signed transcript covering grades 9 through 12.
• Submit all required supporting documents by the published deadline.
• Maintain continuous full-time enrollment and the required GPA for renewal.

How to Apply

1. 1Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP beginning October 1.
2. 2Provide residency documentation if requested.
3. 3Ensure qualifying high school GPA and ACT, SAT, or National Merit information is available for verification.
4. 4Submit the state aid application by September 15.
5. 5Submit all required supporting documentation by October 15.
6. 6Monitor the MAAPP Dashboard for missing documents, eligibility updates, and award information.
7. 7Reapply through MAAPP each academic year to continue receiving the grant.
