Eligibility

  • Be fully admitted as a regular student in an approved Dyslexia Therapy program based on the Orton-Gillingham teaching approach.
  • Pursue a first master's degree leading to a Class "AA" Mississippi educator license with a 203 Dyslexia Therapy designation.
  • Have and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Hold a valid Class "A" Mississippi educator license.
  • Attend an approved Mississippi Dyslexia Therapy graduate program.
  • Agree to serve as a dyslexia therapist in a Mississippi public or charter school or district for one year for each year of funding received.

Requirements

  • Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP.
  • Submit a copy of a valid Mississippi Class "A" educator license.
  • Submit an official graduate program acceptance letter showing full or regular admission.
  • Sign a Master Contract and Note if selected for an award.
  • Sign a Private Loan Self-Certification Form for each year funding is received.
  • Maintain required academic progress and complete the service obligation.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the Mississippi Aid Application through MAAPP beginning October 1.
  2. 2Submit a copy of your valid Mississippi Class "A" educator license.
  3. 3Submit your official graduate program acceptance letter.
  4. 4Ensure all supporting documents are received by June 30.
  5. 5Wait for award consideration based on complete-application status and available funding.
  6. 6If selected, sign the required Master Contract and Note.
  7. 7Complete the annual Private Loan Self-Certification Form.
  8. 8After graduation and licensure, complete one year of Mississippi public or charter school dyslexia-therapy service for each year of funding received.
