Eligibility

  • Meet standard federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements.
  • Complete the FAFSA.
  • Enroll in an approved Minnesota Workforce Pell short-term training program.
  • Attend a participating college or training provider.
  • Meet all applicable federal and institutional financial aid requirements.
  • Not receive a regular Pell Grant and Workforce Pell Grant at the same time.

  • Enroll in an approved Workforce Pell program.
  • Complete any additional financial aid requirements requested by the institution.
  • Have the participating institution determine Workforce Pell eligibility.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the FAFSA for the applicable award year.
  2. 2Identify a participating Minnesota college or training provider offering an approved Workforce Pell program.
  3. 3List the institution on the FAFSA.
  4. 4Apply for admission to the approved short-term career training program.
  5. 5Complete any additional financial aid documentation requested by the institution.
  6. 6After the FAFSA is processed and the program is approved, the institution determines the student's Workforce Pell eligibility.
  7. 7Review the financial aid offer carefully because Workforce Pell funding may appear simply as a Pell Grant rather than being separately labeled Minnesota Workforce Pell.
