Minnesota Farmers Union Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be completing or have completed the final term of senior year in high school.
• Plan to attend or be enrolled in a postsecondary institution.
• Eligible institutions include technical or trade schools, community colleges, state universities, and private institutions.
• Applicant's family must be a Minnesota Farmers Union member.
• Demonstrate a commitment to rural Minnesota and its communities.

Requirements

• Complete the Minnesota Farmers Union Scholarship Application.
• Submit a 400–500-word essay.
• Submit two letters of reference from non-family members.
• Provide information about academic performance.
• Provide extracurricular activities, honors, awards, hobbies, skills, interests, and volunteer activities.
• Provide information about involvement in Minnesota Farmers Union youth activities, if applicable.
• Recipients must provide proof of completing their first postsecondary semester before scholarship payment.
• Recipients must provide a transcript demonstrating a GPA of at least 2.5 for payment under the standard scholarship terms.

How to Apply

1. 1Complete the Minnesota Farmers Union scholarship application.
2. 2Provide academic, extracurricular, volunteer, and Farmers Union involvement information.
3. 3Write the required 400–500-word essay about how agriculture, rural life, and/or Minnesota Farmers Union has shaped you and prepared you for your future.
4. 4Ask two non-family members to submit letters of recommendation directly to Minnesota Farmers Union.
5. 5Submit the application by the annual deadline.
6. 6If selected, complete your first semester of postsecondary education.
7. 7Provide the required transcript and school scholarship-payment information to Minnesota Farmers Union.
