Minnesota Benefit Association Scholarship Award Program

Eligibility

• Be a public employee, elected official, or qualifying family member in the State of Minnesota.
• Plan to pursue or currently be pursuing postsecondary education.
• Current high school and current postsecondary students may apply.
• Independent adult applicants age 24 and older may apply.
• Meet all requirements of the current Minnesota Benefit Association scholarship application.

Requirements

• Complete the Minnesota Benefit Association Scholarship Application.
• Submit a grade transcript showing the most recent grades earned and GPA.
• Current postsecondary students must also submit a copy of their high school transcript.
• Submit certified scores from the most recent ACT or SAT testing.
• Submit a 300–500 word original essay responding to the annual essay topic.
• Submit a separate vocational-goal statement of no more than 100 words.
• Provide employment-history information.
• Provide extracurricular and volunteer-service information.
• Provide required financial-need and family-income information.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm that you or a qualifying family member is a Minnesota public employee or elected official.
2. 2Complete every section of the scholarship application.
3. 3Prepare the required academic transcripts.
4. 4Provide certified ACT or SAT scores.
5. 5Write the required 300–500 word essay.
6. 6Write the separate vocational-goal response of no more than 100 words.
7. 7Complete the employment, community-involvement, educational-cost, and financial-need sections.
8. 8Mail the completed application and supporting materials to the Minnesota Benefit Association by the annual April 15 deadline.
9. 9Finalists may be asked to provide federal income-tax documentation for financial-need verification.
