Minnesota American Legion Nurse's Training Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a legal resident of Minnesota.
• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Be a registered student in a nursing program at a Minnesota university, college, or other accredited institution of higher education.
• Meet the academic standards of the institution attended.
• Have a good record of school and community citizenship.
• Demonstrate initiative and a desire to pursue nursing education.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• A veteran or military-family connection is not required.

Requirements

• Complete the Nurse's Training Scholarship application.
• Submit a college transcript.
• Submit a personal essay explaining why you should receive the scholarship.
• Submit at least two letters of recommendation.
• Include a recommendation from the department head of the nursing program.
• Provide required financial-need information.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm Minnesota residency and enrollment in an eligible Minnesota nursing program.
2. 2Complete the scholarship application.
3. 3Prepare the required personal essay.
4. 4Obtain the nursing department head recommendation.
5. 5Obtain at least one additional recommendation so the application contains at least two.
6. 6Include your college transcript.
7. 7Submit the complete application to Minnesota American Legion Department headquarters by April 1.
