Minnesota American Legion Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a legal resident of Minnesota.
• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Be a legal descendant of a veteran member of The American Legion and/or a legal descendant of an American Legion Auxiliary member.
• Be a high school graduate when the scholarship is received.
• Meet the academic standards of the institution attended.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Demonstrate good school and community citizenship.
• Show initiative and a desire to pursue education beyond high school.
• Attend an eligible Minnesota institution or an institution in a state with a Minnesota reciprocity agreement.

Requirements

• Complete the Minnesota American Legion Foundation Scholarship application.
• Submit a high school or college transcript.
• Submit a personal letter.
• Submit at least two letters of recommendation.
• Obtain an American Legion Post official's signature.
• Provide required financial information.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm Minnesota residency and qualifying family eligibility.
2. 2Complete the Foundation Scholarship application.
3. 3Include the required transcript and personal letter.
4. 4Obtain at least two recommendations.
5. 5Have an American Legion Post official sign the application.
6. 6Submit the complete application to the Department of Minnesota by April 1.
