Michigan Tuition Grant

Eligibility

• Have received a paid Michigan Tuition Grant award in Academic Year 2023-24 or earlier.
• File the current-year FAFSA by July 1.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Be enrolled at least half-time at a participating Michigan nonprofit independent college.
• Be enrolled as an undergraduate student.
• Not be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in theology, divinity, or religious education.
• Have been a Michigan resident since July 1 of the previous calendar year.
• If considered a dependent student, have FAFSA contributors who are also Michigan residents.
• Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or approved refugee.
• Not be incarcerated.
• Not be in default on a federal student loan.

Requirements

• Submit the current-year FAFSA by July 1.
• Continue demonstrating financial need.
• Remain enrolled at least half-time at a participating institution.
• Remain an undergraduate student.
• Maintain Michigan residency.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for renewal.
• Meet the institution's Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm that the student previously received a paid Michigan Tuition Grant award in Academic Year 2023-24 or earlier.
2. 2Complete and submit the current-year FAFSA by July 1.
3. 3List the participating Michigan college the student plans to attend on the FAFSA.
4. 4Monitor the MiSSG Student Portal and communications from the college financial aid office for award information.
5. 5Notify MI Student Aid through MiSSG if the Michigan college choice changes.
6. 6Continue filing the FAFSA by July 1 each year and meet renewal requirements while the program remains available.
