Michigan Reconnect

Eligibility

• Be at least 21 years old when applying under the current Michigan Reconnect eligibility guidance.
• Have lived in Michigan for at least one year.
• Meet applicable Michigan residency requirements.
• Have a high school diploma, high school equivalency credential such as a GED, or certificate of completion.
• Have not already completed an associate degree.
• Have not already completed a bachelor's degree.
• Complete the FAFSA and have it processed by the college of attendance.
• Enroll at a participating Michigan public community college or Tribal college.
• Enroll in an eligible Pell-eligible associate degree or skill certificate program.

Requirements

• Complete the Michigan Reconnect application.
• Apply for admission to a participating Michigan public community college or Tribal college.
• Complete the FAFSA.
• Enroll in an eligible Pell-eligible associate degree or skill certificate program.
• Continue meeting Michigan Reconnect academic and participation requirements for continued funding.

How to Apply

1. 1Complete the online Michigan Reconnect application.
2. 2Apply to a participating Michigan public community college or Tribal college.
3. 3Complete and submit the FAFSA for the applicable academic year.
4. 4Work with the college to determine whether the student qualifies for in-district tuition.
5. 5Select an eligible Pell-eligible associate degree or skill certificate program.
6. 6Enroll in classes and begin the approved program.
7. 7Continue completing the FAFSA and meeting program requirements for future semesters.
