Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship

The Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship helps eligible recent Michigan high school graduates pay for approved career training programs that lead to industry-recognized certificates and credentials. The program is designed to provide a faster pathway into skilled, high-demand careers while reducing students' out-of-pocket training costs.

Eligibility

  • Be a Michigan resident for at least the immediately preceding year.
  • Have graduated from high school with a diploma or certificate of completion, or earned a high school equivalency certificate, in 2023 or later.
  • Have not already earned an associate degree.
  • Have not already earned a bachelor's degree.
  • Have not already earned a degree, certificate, or other credential using the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship.
  • Enroll in an eligible career training program.
  • Begin the eligible career training program within 15 months of high school graduation or earning a qualifying high school equivalency credential.

Requirements

  • Complete the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship application through the MiSSG Student Portal.
  • Select an eligible career training provider and qualifying training program.
  • Enroll in the eligible career training program.
  • Provide the career training provider with proof of high school graduation, certificate of completion, or qualifying high school equivalency credential.

How to Apply

  3. 3Create or log in to a MiSSG Student Portal account.
  4. 4Complete the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship application.
  5. 5Enroll in the selected eligible career training program.
  6. 6Provide the training provider with proof of high school completion or an approved equivalent credential.
  7. 7Work with the training provider to complete any additional enrollment or scholarship verification requirements.
