MECA Memorial Scholarship

The MECA Memorial Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students from Montana electric cooperative member families. Four scholarships are awarded statewide each year, with one recipient selected from each of MECA's four geographic districts.

Eligibility

  • Be a member of a Montana electric cooperative or have a parent or guardian who is a member.
  • The applicant's local electric cooperative must be a member of the Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association.
  • Be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a university or vocational technical school or be a student continuing undergraduate education.
  • Submit the application through the applicant's local participating electric cooperative.

Requirements

  • Complete the MECA Memorial Scholarship application.
  • Submit a copy of school transcripts.
  • Submit ACT and/or SAT scores as requested by the application.
  • Provide a résumé-style list of school and community activities, awards, honors, extracurricular activities, and volunteer service.
  • Provide information about high school and/or college employment.
  • Submit a personal statement of no more than two double-spaced typed pages.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation.

How to Apply

  1. 1Confirm that you or your parent or guardian belongs to a participating Montana electric cooperative.
  2. 2Obtain the MECA Memorial Scholarship application from your local cooperative.
  3. 3Complete the application and provide your academic information.
  4. 4Prepare a résumé-style summary of activities, awards, honors, volunteer service, and extracurricular involvement.
  5. 5List relevant high school or college employment.
  6. 6Write the required personal statement without using AI.
  7. 7Obtain one letter of recommendation.
  8. 8Submit the complete application to your local electric cooperative by its published local deadline.
  9. 9Each cooperative selects an application to advance to MECA, where four district recipients are selected.
