The Maynard Jayne Student Scholarship supports upper-level college students pursuing agriculture-focused degrees at nonprofit four-year colleges and universities in Iowa. Established in honor of longtime Iowa Cattlemen’s Association leader Maynard Jayne, the scholarship places significant emphasis on financial need while also considering academics, agricultural involvement, leadership, and future contributions to the beef industry.

Eligibility

  • Be an incoming college sophomore, junior, or senior; incoming freshmen are not eligible.
  • Attend full time at an accredited nonprofit four-year college or university located in Iowa.
  • Pursue a major with an agricultural emphasis.
  • Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Meet all application and enrollment-verification requirements.
  • Applicants may receive the Maynard Jayne Scholarship only once.

Requirements

  • Complete the official Maynard Jayne Student Scholarship application.
  • Provide a complete description of financial need and how college expenses will be funded.
  • Submit the most recent college or university transcript with the application.
  • Describe academic achievements and the applicant’s agricultural major or specialization.
  • Describe involvement in FFA, 4-H, agricultural organizations, community activities, and other organizations.
  • Describe experience and knowledge in livestock production, marketing, judging, farming, or related areas.
  • Explain leadership potential, career goals, and plans to promote or support the beef cattle industry.
  • Sign and date the completed application.
  • If selected, provide enrollment verification before scholarship funds are issued.
