Eligibility

  • Physically reside in Massachusetts for at least one year as of the start of the enrolled term, with an intent to remain in Massachusetts consistent with Board of Higher Education policy.
  • Meet applicable citizenship or Massachusetts state financial aid eligibility requirements.
  • Apply for financial aid using the FAFSA or an equivalent application authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education.
  • Be enrolled for at least six but fewer than 12 undergraduate credits or the equivalent per academic term.
  • Be enrolled in an eligible undergraduate degree or certificate program.
  • Attend an eligible Massachusetts institution.
  • Not have previously earned a bachelor's degree, professional degree, or equivalent.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress according to institutional and federal standards.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Not be in default on applicable federal or state student loans or owe a refund for previously received financial aid.
