The Massachusetts In-Demand Scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degree or certificate programs connected to occupations identified as in-demand by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The program is designed to help address workforce shortages while encouraging graduates to remain in Massachusetts and build their professional careers in the Commonwealth.

Eligibility

  • Physically reside in Massachusetts for at least one year as of the start of the enrolled term, with an intent to remain in Massachusetts consistent with Board of Higher Education policy.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, eligible non-citizen under Title IV regulations, or have approved Massachusetts High School Completer eligibility under the state's tuition equity law.
  • Be admitted to an eligible Massachusetts public college or university.
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate program identified as preparing students for an in-demand profession or occupation.
  • Declare or currently pursue an eligible in-demand major or program of study that can be verified by the institution.
  • Complete the FAFSA or Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA) annually.
  • Maintain a minimum college-level GPA of 3.0.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress according to institutional standards.
  • Not be in default on applicable federal or state student loans.
  • Not owe a refund for previously received financial aid.
  • Intend to remain in Massachusetts to pursue a professional career after completing the supported program.

Requirements

  • Complete the FAFSA or MASFA annually.
  • Enroll in an eligible undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate program associated with an in-demand profession.
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 college GPA.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Enroll in at least six credits per term if attending part-time or as a graduate student.
  • Complete any financial aid verification required by the institution or Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance.
  • Contact the institution's financial aid office for current application and award-processing requirements.
