Eligibility

  • Physically reside in Massachusetts for at least one year as of the start of the enrolled term, with an intent to remain in Massachusetts consistent with Board of Higher Education policy.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, eligible non-citizen under Title IV regulations, or have approved Massachusetts High School Completer eligibility under the state's tuition equity law.
  • Be enrolled in at least three undergraduate credits per semester in an eligible program.
  • Attend an eligible Massachusetts public institution of higher education.
  • Not have previously earned a bachelor's degree, professional degree, or equivalent.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress according to institutional and federal standards.
  • Demonstrate financial need under the institution's financial aid packaging process.
  • Not be in default on applicable federal or state student loans.
  • Not owe a refund for previously received financial aid.

  • Complete the FAFSA or applicable Massachusetts-authorized financial aid application.
  • Contact your college financial aid office for Cash Grant requirements and deadlines.
  • Enroll in at least three undergraduate credits per semester.
  • Complete any financial aid verification or supporting documentation requested by the institution.
