Eligibility

  • Be eligible for in-state tuition in Maryland.
  • Be a current high school senior, undergraduate student, graduate student, private career school enrollee, or other eligible postsecondary student.
  • Enroll full-time or part-time in an eligible postsecondary program.
  • Attend an eligible Maryland two-year college, four-year college or university, or private career school unless an approved out-of-state exception applies.
  • Complete the FAFSA or MHEC One-App as required.
  • Apply through the Maryland state senator representing your legislative district.
  • Meet any additional application requirements established by the senator's office.
  • Students in certain certificate or licensure programs at Maryland community colleges may also qualify for reimbursement of eligible educational expenses.

  • Complete the senator's scholarship application by the deadline established by that senator.
  • Complete the FAFSA or MHEC One-App when required.
  • Submit any required documentation directly to the senator's office.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress for renewal.
  • Continue meeting applicable Maryland residency and enrollment requirements.
