Eligibility

  • Be a Maryland resident.
  • If classified as a dependent student, have parents who are also Maryland residents.
  • Be enrolled at a two-year or four-year Maryland college or university.
  • Be enrolled as a part-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student taking 3 to 11 credits per semester.
  • Students dually enrolled in a Maryland high school and an institution of higher education may also qualify.
  • Demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA or MHEC One-App.
  • Meet any additional institutional eligibility requirements.

Requirements

  • Complete the FAFSA or MHEC One-App by the applicable March 1 deadline.
  • Contact the financial aid office at the institution you attend or plan to attend.
  • Complete any additional institution-specific application requirements.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress for renewal.
  • Continue to demonstrate financial need each year.
  • Continue meeting part-time enrollment requirements.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the FAFSA or MHEC One-App for the applicable academic year.
  2. 2Submit the financial aid application by March 1.
  3. 3Contact your Maryland college or university financial aid office regarding Part-Time Grant availability and institution-specific deadlines.
  4. 4Provide any additional documentation requested by the institution.
  5. 5The participating institution selects eligible recipients and determines awards from its allocated funding.
  6. 6File the FAFSA or MHEC One-App annually to remain eligible for renewal consideration.
