Maryland Delegate Scholarship

The Maryland Delegate Scholarship is a state legislative scholarship for Maryland residents pursuing a postsecondary credential. Students may attend full-time or part-time at eligible Maryland colleges, universities, or private career schools, and certain certificate or licensure students may also qualify for educational expense reimbursement.

Eligibility

  • Be eligible for Maryland in-state tuition.
  • Be a current high school senior or a current or prospective undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Enroll full-time or part-time in an eligible postsecondary program.
  • Attend an eligible Maryland two-year college, four-year college or university, or private career school unless an approved out-of-state exception applies.
  • Undocumented students who qualify for Maryland in-state tuition may be eligible.
  • Students enrolled currently or within the previous two years in certain community college certificate or licensure programs may qualify for reimbursement of educational expenses.
  • Meet any additional eligibility requirements established by the student's local Maryland delegate.

Requirements

  • Contact the Maryland state delegate or delegates representing your legislative district for application instructions.
  • Complete the Delegate Scholarship application required by the delegate's office.
  • Submit the FAFSA if the Office of Student Financial Assistance is responsible for selecting recipients on behalf of the delegate.
  • Submit the MHEC One-App instead of the FAFSA if eligible for Maryland in-state tuition but ineligible for federal financial aid.
  • Submit any required supporting documentation directly to the delegate's office.
  • Reapply each year because the Delegate Scholarship is not automatically renewable.
