The Louisiana Sea Grant Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) provides funding for undergraduate students to participate in faculty-mentored research addressing Louisiana's coastal and marine resource issues. Students gain hands-on research experience while contributing to projects involving coastal ecology, fisheries, aquaculture, environmental engineering, genetics, and related disciplines.

Eligibility

  • Be a full-time undergraduate student at a Louisiana college or university.
  • Participate in a faculty-mentored research project.
  • Conduct research addressing Louisiana coastal or marine resource issues.
  • Meet all Louisiana Sea Grant program requirements.

Requirements

  • Work with a faculty mentor to develop a research proposal.
  • Faculty mentor must submit the proposal through the Louisiana Sea Grant online system.
  • Complete the research project during the funded project period.
  • Submit a final research report with your faculty mentor.
