Louisiana Life Safety & Security Association Youth Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be between 15 and 20 years old.
• Be a graduating high school senior from an accredited high school, homeschool, or military or boarding school located in Louisiana.
• Be accepted to an accredited college, university, trade school, or technical school.
• Have a parent or legal guardian who actively serves as a full-time or volunteer public-sector police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or EMT.
• The qualifying parent or guardian must work in Louisiana or within 100 miles of the applicant's school.
• The qualifying parent or guardian may not be administrative staff, a reserve officer, part-time or retired personnel, a federal agent, or deceased.

Requirements

• Complete and sign the LLSSA Youth Scholarship application.
• Submit a typed 500- to 1,000-word essay.
• Submit an official high school transcript.
• Provide SAT and/or ACT scores.
• Provide proof of acceptance to an accredited postsecondary institution.
• Provide proof of the qualifying parent or guardian's public safety employment.
• Submit a resume listing community service, academic awards, extracurricular activities, hobbies, and work history.
• Submit verified community service documentation.
• Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader.

2. 2Prepare the required 500- to 1,000-word essay based on the published scholarship prompt.
3. 3Gather your transcript, test scores, college acceptance documentation, public safety employment verification, resume, community service verification, and recommendation letter.
4. 4Submit the completed application and supporting materials to LLSSA before the published deadline.
5. 5Email submission is preferred, and applicants should confirm that LLSSA received the application.
