Louisiana Agricultural Consultants Association Scholarships

Eligibility

• Demonstrate a strong interest in row crop agriculture.
• Preference is given to students currently enrolled at a Louisiana college or university in an agriculture-related curriculum.
• Qualifying areas of study may include agribusiness or economics, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology, plant science, soil science, or weed science.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Be enrolled as a full-time student and not be employed full-time.
• Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least 45 semester hours or the equivalent before applying.
• Graduate applicants must have selected a major professor and be actively engaged in that professor's research project.

Requirements

• Complete the Louisiana Agricultural Consultants Association scholarship application.
• Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
• Submit two current letters of recommendation, including at least one from a professor in an agriculture-related field.
• Submit a resume describing academic honors, extracurricular involvement, agricultural work experience, and professional licenses or certifications.
• Submit an essay of at least 200 words explaining why you deserve the scholarship.
• Graduate applicants must include a synopsis of their current research.

How to Apply

1. 1Complete the LACA scholarship application.
2. 2Prepare the required essay of at least 200 words.
3. 3Request two current recommendation letters and have the recommenders send them directly to the scholarship committee.
4. 4Arrange for official college transcripts to be sent directly to the scholarship committee.
5. 5Attach your resume and, if applying as a graduate student, your research synopsis.
6. 6Submit the complete application package by the published deadline.
