Keepers Preservation Education Fund

Eligibility

• Be a student, volunteer, employee, or practicing professional involved in historic preservation or an allied field.
• Students may be enrolled full- or part-time in higher education programs related to historic preservation or allied fields.
• Eligible fields may include American studies, anthropology, archaeology, architecture, landscape architecture, art history, architectural history, history, planning, law, economics, building conservation, museum studies, construction arts and sciences, and related preservation fields.
• Applicants may be from anywhere in the United States.
• Applicants may not be members of the awards committee or immediate family members of committee members.
• Preference is given to applicants who have not received a Keepers award during the previous 24 months.

Requirements

• Apply through an eligible sponsoring institution or organization.
• Submit a one-page statement explaining why funding is needed.
• Provide a budget showing the total funds needed for the proposed project or activity.
• Submit a resume focused on education and work in historic preservation.
• Have the sponsoring institution document its review and selection process.

How to Apply

1. 1Identify a sponsoring college, university, preservation institution, or preservation organization.
2. 2Work with the sponsoring organization to complete its internal screening process.
3. 3Prepare the required statement of need, budget, and preservation-focused resume.
4. 4Have the sponsoring institution forward the complete application and supporting materials to Maine Community Foundation.
5. 5Submit applications on a rolling basis, preferably at least three months before the funds are needed.
