Kansas Promise Act Scholarship

The Kansas Promise Act Scholarship is a last-dollar service scholarship that helps eligible Kansas students complete approved two-year associate degrees, career and technical education certificates, and other high-demand workforce programs. The scholarship covers eligible tuition, required fees, books, and required materials remaining after other grants and scholarships are applied.

Eligibility

  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be a Kansas resident.
  • Meet the household income limit established for the Kansas Promise Act Scholarship.
  • Meet at least one qualifying Kansas residency, high school graduation, equivalency, military-dependent, or foster-care pathway.
  • Enroll in an eligible Promise program at a participating Kansas postsecondary institution.
  • Enroll in at least six credit hours per semester.
  • Complete the FAFSA.
  • Complete the Kansas Promise Act Scholarship application.
  • Sign the Kansas Promise Scholarship Obligation Agreement.
  • Complete the eligible program within 36 months of first receiving Promise Scholarship funding.

Requirements

  • Complete the Kansas Promise Act Scholarship application.
  • Complete the FAFSA.
  • Enroll in at least six credit hours in an approved Promise-eligible program.
  • Sign the legally binding Kansas Promise Scholarship Obligation Agreement.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Complete the funded program within 36 months of the first scholarship disbursement.
  • After program completion, begin qualifying Kansas employment within six months unless an approved deferment applies.
  • Live and work in Kansas for at least two consecutive years after completing the program.

How to Apply

  3. 3Complete the FAFSA.
  4. 4Create or log into the Kansas Board of Regents student financial aid portal.
  5. 5Complete the Kansas Promise Act Scholarship application.
  6. 6Enroll in at least six eligible credit hours.
  7. 7Sign the required Promise Scholarship Obligation Agreement.
  8. 8Submit the application as early as possible because awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
  9. 9Renew both the scholarship application and FAFSA each academic year while receiving funding.
