Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance Program

The Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance Program provides tuition and required fee assistance to eligible members of the Kansas Army and Air National Guard. The program supports certificate, diploma, and undergraduate degree programs at eligible Kansas public and independent institutions and is available to both full-time and part-time students.

Eligibility

  • Be a current member of the Kansas Army or Air National Guard in good standing.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Enroll at an eligible Kansas educational institution.
  • Pursue a certificate, diploma, or undergraduate degree.
  • Not already hold a bachelor's degree.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Have the FAFSA on file with the attending institution.
  • Apply for Federal Tuition Assistance when applicable.
  • Meet all Kansas National Guard service and good-standing requirements.

Requirements

  • Complete the State of Kansas Student Aid Application for each funded semester.
  • Complete the FAFSA.
  • Apply for Federal Tuition Assistance when applicable.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and satisfactory academic progress.
  • Remain in good standing with the Kansas National Guard.
  • Submit an academic transcript to the National Guard Educational Services Office at the end of each semester.
  • Complete the required student agreement.
  • Serve an additional 24 months in the Kansas National Guard after the final semester of tuition assistance or repay the scholarship amount received.

How to Apply

  3. 3Create or log into the Kansas Board of Regents state financial aid portal.
  4. 4Complete the Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance application for the applicable semester.
  5. 5Complete the required student agreement and Guard certification process.
  6. 6Submit all required documents before the semester deadline.
  7. 7At the end of the semester, provide your transcript to the Kansas National Guard Educational Services Office.
  8. 8Maintain Guard service for the required 24 months after your final funded semester.
