John & Kathryn English Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a high school senior meeting Missouri DESE graduation requirements.
• Attend a high school within West Central Electric Cooperative's service area or have a parent or legal guardian who is a current WCE member.
• Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
• Provide an ACT score or equivalent college entrance examination score.
• Be or have been an active 4-H member at the time of high school graduation.
• Plan to attend college beginning in the fall semester following high school graduation.
• Children and grandchildren of current WCE directors are not eligible.

Requirements

• Complete the typed John & Kathryn English Memorial Scholarship application.
• Submit two letters of reference.
• At least one reference must come from an adult involved with 4-H.
• References may not come from relatives.
• Submit a completed Missouri 4-H Report Form with required signatures.
• Submit a high school transcript signed by the counselor or homeschool teacher.
• Provide an ACT score or equivalent college entrance examination score.
• Address financial need and special circumstances.
• Submit a recent photograph.
• Finalists must participate in a scholarship committee interview.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm eligibility through either attendance at a high school in WCE's service territory or a qualifying WCE-member parent or legal guardian.
2. 2Complete the annual typed scholarship application.
3. 3Request two qualifying reference letters, including one from an adult involved with 4-H.
4. 4Complete and obtain required signatures on the Missouri 4-H Report Form.
5. 5Obtain the required signed transcript.
6. 6Submit the application and all supporting documentation by the published deadline.
7. 7If selected as a finalist, participate in the required scholarship interview.
8. 8Recipients seeking support in later years must submit annual renewal requests with the required transcript.
