Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW)

The Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW) exempts eligible students from paying tuition and mandatory fees while pursuing initial licensure in special education at eligible Illinois public universities. Recipients agree to fulfill a teaching commitment in Illinois after graduation.

Eligibility

  • Be an Illinois resident.
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at an eligible Illinois public four-year university offering an approved special education program.
  • Seek initial licensure in a special education discipline.
  • Meet all ISAC eligibility requirements.
  • Not receive Teachers of Illinois Scholarship or Golden Apple Scholars funding during the same academic term.

Requirements

  • Complete the SETTW application through the ISAC Student Portal.
  • Sign the Teaching Agreement/Master Promissory Note.
  • Be certified by the college as meeting program requirements.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
