Idaho Chapter American Fisheries Society Scholarships

Eligibility

• Meet the eligibility requirements for one of the Idaho Chapter American Fisheries Society scholarships.
• High School Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in an Idaho high school, completing an Idaho GED, or be an Idaho resident who has not yet attended college.
• High School Scholarship applicants must plan to attend a college or university located in Idaho.
• Undergraduate Scholarship applicants must attend an Idaho college or university or be actively involved with the Idaho Chapter, including a student subunit.
• Graduate scholarship applicants must attend an Idaho college or university or have qualifying involvement with the Idaho Chapter.
• Applicants must have educational or professional goals that support fisheries science, aquatic ecosystems, conservation, or the mission of the American Fisheries Society.
• Susan B. Martin Mentoring Scholarship applicants must demonstrate mentoring or support for the professional growth of fish and aquatic scientists.
• Meet all scholarship-specific academic, enrollment, experience, and application requirements.

Requirements

• Complete the application for the scholarship matching the applicant's current education level and qualifications.
• Submit all required written responses describing academic interests, professional goals, fisheries or aquatic experience, and relevant accomplishments.
• Provide an academic transcript; unofficial transcripts are accepted for applicable awards.
• Arrange for a recommendation from a biology professional, faculty member, school administrator, adviser, or supervisor.
• Submit any scholarship-specific experience, mentoring, coursework, or Idaho Chapter involvement information requested.
• Submit every required component by the annual deadline.

2. 2Select the high school, undergraduate, Douglas J. Megargle Memorial, or Susan B. Martin Mentoring Scholarship that matches your education level and experience.
3. 3Complete the appropriate online scholarship application.
4. 4Prepare the required written responses about your fisheries, aquatic-science, educational, and career goals.
5. 5Obtain and submit your transcript when required.
6. 6Ask an eligible professor, adviser, administrator, biology professional, or supervisor to complete the recommendation questionnaire.
7. 7Submit all application components before January 31.
8. 8Monitor email and Idaho Chapter communications for recipient announcements.
