Howard P. Rawlings Guaranteed Access Grant

Eligibility

• Be eligible for in-state tuition in Maryland.
• Submit the FAFSA or MHEC One-App by the annual consideration deadline.
• List at least one Maryland college or university on the FAFSA or MHEC One-App.
• Meet the program's financial need and income requirements.
• Be accepted for admission and enrolled in a regular undergraduate program at an eligible two-year or four-year Maryland institution.
• Enroll full-time as a degree-seeking undergraduate student.
• Have completed high school or earned a qualifying GED.
• Begin college within six years of completing high school or earning a GED.
• Be under age 26 when first receiving the Guaranteed Access Grant.
• Not have previously earned a bachelor's degree.
• Meet all continuing eligibility requirements for renewal.

Requirements

• Submit the FAFSA or MHEC One-App by the published consideration deadline.
• Maintain an MDCAPS account.
• Submit any additional documentation requested by the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
• Meet applicable income and financial need requirements.
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress for renewal.
• Continue meeting applicable enrollment and credit completion requirements.

How to Apply

1. 1Complete the FAFSA or MHEC One-App for the applicable academic year.
2. 2List at least one eligible Maryland college or university on the financial aid application.
3. 3Create or access your MDCAPS account.
4. 4Monitor MDCAPS for eligibility updates and documentation requests.
5. 5Submit any requested documentation by the published documentation deadline.
6. 6Qualified students are automatically considered for the Guaranteed Access Grant; there is no separate grant application.
