Georgia's HOPE Scholarship provides merit-based tuition assistance to eligible Georgia residents pursuing an undergraduate degree at a participating public, technical, or private college or university in Georgia.

Eligibility

  • Meet United States citizenship or eligible noncitizen requirements.
  • Meet the applicable Georgia residency requirements.
  • Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at an eligible Georgia public, technical, or private college or university.
  • Graduate from an eligible high school or accredited home study program with at least a 3.0 calculated HOPE GPA.
  • Complete at least four approved academic rigor credits when required for initial eligibility.
  • Students from an ineligible high school, unaccredited home study program, or qualifying high school equivalency pathway must meet the applicable alternative academic requirements.
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 calculated postsecondary HOPE GPA at required eligibility checkpoints.
  • Meet the institution's satisfactory academic progress requirements.
  • Be in good standing on applicable federal and Georgia student loans, grants, and scholarships.
  • Not have exceeded the maximum HOPE program award limits.

Requirements

  • Complete either the FAFSA or the Georgia Student Finance Application.
  • Submit any residency, citizenship, academic, or financial-aid documentation requested by the institution or GSFC.
  • Ensure that high school transcript information is submitted for HOPE GPA calculation when required.
  • Maintain academic eligibility at each required postsecondary checkpoint.

How to Apply

  2. 2Complete either the FAFSA or the Georgia Student Finance Application.
  3. 3Confirm your calculated high school HOPE GPA and initial eligibility through GAfutures.
  4. 4Enroll in a degree program at an eligible Georgia institution.
  5. 5Submit any additional documents requested by your college or the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
  6. 6Monitor your College HOPE Profile to track continued academic eligibility.
