HEA Student Teacher Scholarship

The HEA Student Teacher Scholarship, sponsored by the Helen McKay Memorial, supports future teachers during their student-teaching semester. Eligibility

  • Intend to teach in the Hawaii State Department of Education.
  • Be completing student teaching during the applicable academic year.
  • Be enrolled full time as an undergraduate or post-baccalaureate candidate in a State Approved Teacher Education Program at a state-approved or nationally accredited institution.
  • Applicants enrolled in a Hawaii State Approved Teacher Education alternative licensure program may also qualify.
  • Be an HEA member, the child of an HEA member, or the grandchild or legally adopted grandchild of an HEA member.
  • Not be an employee, officer, or director of HEA, an immediate family member of one, or a member of the same household.

Requirements

  • Complete the HEA Student Teacher Scholarship application.
  • Submit the required essay or written responses.
  • Provide proof of enrollment in an eligible teacher-preparation or alternative-licensure program.
  • Provide documentation of the student-teaching placement.
  • Verify the applicable HEA membership relationship.
  • Submit any additional academic or supporting materials requested for the current cycle.
