The Golden State Social Opportunities Program supports California students pursuing education that leads to clinical behavioral health licensure. The program gives priority consideration to applicants who have experienced foster care or homelessness and to employees of community-based organizations.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled in or accepted to an eligible California educational program leading toward clinical behavioral health licensure.
  • Be preparing for an eligible licensed behavioral health profession.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States throughout the required service period.
  • Agree to complete the required service obligation at an eligible California nonprofit community-based organization.
  • Meet all additional requirements established in the applicable HCAI grant guide.
  • Not have an overlapping service obligation from another financial-assistance program.

Requirements

  • Complete the HCAI Funding eApp application during an open application cycle.
  • Provide proof of enrollment or acceptance in an eligible educational program.
  • Submit documentation required to verify educational, employment, and priority-status information.
  • Provide an official cost-of-attendance document if required.
  • Sign the required service agreement if selected.

How to Apply

  1. 1Review the current HCAI program page and grant guide when a new cycle is announced.
  2. 2Confirm that the educational program leads to an eligible behavioral health license.
  3. 3Create or update an HCAI Funding eApp account.
  4. 4Gather enrollment, employment, and priority-eligibility documentation.
  5. 5Complete the online application and upload all required materials.
  6. 6If selected, sign the grant agreement and complete the required California service obligation.
